    Very cool, I have some of my great grandfathers old pipes, still in top nick. Two old straight pipes, one with what looks like a bowl made from red cedar root that's gotten to dry and split, and another with a bowl covered in leather with very very fine stitching. Plus an old Sherlock Holmes...

    Weapon of choice

    You need a pretty serious brushcutter for that type of work. I have a husky clearing saw, which is a fancy way of saying BIG ASS BRUSHCUTTER, but they retail for near 2 grand. Checkout biggerboyztoyz.com they had a couple of really good big ass brushcutters for under $500.

    Old firearm, any ideas on age etc?

    I cant tell from the OPs pics if the receiver is brass or steel, the majority of 1866 were brass receivered but I believe there is a steel receiver variant which is a bit rarer.

    Very cool, I'm a gun nut myself but I cant quiet identify this, I keep thinking Uberti for some reason. If nobody minds ill copy the pics and try to get it identified.
