    Hello i'm new here! Faceting

What I meant with 0.1 degree is that when I set the angle, I can hardly tell if I do 43.25 or 43.35, but when I cut the other facets, they will be at the same angle at the first one +- 0.02 degree, I just do not know what is the exact value of the angle, but all the facets need to be cut at the...

    Hello i'm new here! Faceting

Well the best would be for you to try a traditional machine. Modern machines achieve easily a precision of .1 degree to set an angle, and they cut repetitively to the same angle with a repression of 0.01 degree.

Looks like a garnet to me, I have a jar of similar stuff that I got through my lapidary club (it was in the collection of a deceased member that was given away to other members of the club), but I do not know where it was found in Australia.

⭐ Show Us Your Cut Stones - Before And After Photos

I love Zircon! Found in GG, was around 3ct with a perfect shape for a pear, hence the 1.7ct finished stone (rough was like a preform).

    My first cut stone

Not bad for a first stone (mine is a lot lot worse). Next time, try to reduce the girdle and work on the meets. The color looks like a "Sanyo topaz", a TV glass that is inexpensive for beginner.
