@The Green Wanderer you should use leather gaskets. They are used in different water pumps and work much better because they're durable 5+ years. They are tight when they get in contact with water. Also if you use a lil bit of vaseline it's much more easier to pump without big effort. Used it on...
Found a very interesting patent "US 8240775 B2" some time ago from 2012. Seems like a really genius idea. Did someone saw this commercial product? Maybe it's something worth trying to build? Looks like it would be more efficient than a super long gravity dredge.
Here is the link to the full...
UPDATE:
Instead of the dust pan one can use this banjo pan from goldcube homepage. Just drill a hole in the middle of the banjo pan and fix the concentrator to it. The integrated vortex mat should catch gold that is trying to get away.
I was asked to show a little bit more details about my diy valve. So let's share it with all.
Here is a simple drawing and a collage of my diy valve. Depending if you want an inlet or outlet valve you have to fix the rubber with the 2 screws on the opposite site. I've used a fibre-reinforced...
With the bolt in the handle and the black plastic nut I can adjust the level/inclination when I put it into the tub. The tub has a small hole on the edge. Hope that makes sense.
@limpalot sure here is a simple PDF tutorial. Don't laugh I've tried one of these painting apps on my tablet to draw a quick sketch :D

and here the same tutorial on german (with european standard names for HT pipes)...
Sorry guys don't have a video yet because I need to make a youtube account first. It's basically a replicate of this commercial device just with stuff I had in the garage. You put your material into the opening and heavy material goes to the ground. The lighter material is washed away into the...
This fluid bed thingy is really great! Just built two diy quicksand gold concentrators with household stuff and tested them. They work amazingly good! I've checked also the tailings and missed only two very very tiny micron gold particles. Btw. Im using a 12 Volt 750GPH bilge pump.
OMG seriously? The admin just deleted my thread in another forum and I got a warning because Im not allowed to advertise products. LOL There is no such thing like a toilet sluice! It's a joke put together in photoshop :D :D :D
