I think I might have been avoiding a pannable creek very close to me for a little over a year now... on the exempt list it mentions "Yarrowee River Tributary of Barwon River" there happens to be a Yarrowee creek near me (Sebastopol in Ballarat)... and it never occurred to me that there could be...
I was surprised when the postie came today as apparently I had to go to my local post office to pay for an item that had insufficient postage... not sure what it could be, I trotted off mind spinning with possibilities. Got to the post office... there's a large A4 or so size envelope with my...
Today (well yesterday really) I finally had some money to buy my subscription to Gold Gem and Treasure magazine... I really like the magazine but I would really love to win the Minelab GPX 5000 (would sure beat my Kogan).
I'm not as advanced as using a snuffer but I find that if you fill your vial with water... you can typically press your finger onto the speck in the pan... if it doesn't stick first go try, try again. Once it's on your finger, place said finger over vial (making sure obviously that the gold...
G'Day Eureka70... I recently moved up to the Ballarat area and have been visiting Daylesford (or at least Eganstown) for a while now... it's a nice area and if you are panning you can at least be fairly sure you will come away with some little crystals/stones.
I've only got a cheapo Kogan...
goldengoose... that's understandable... shame they can't just put a disclaimer on it with wording that would free them of liability... also that way if you were found in the field and you were in an area that had changed to no longer being permitted... if you could reference the map number or...
Thanks BigWave. I'll likely get off my butt at some point and make myself some maps with the DEPI info... possibly GeoVic or Google Earth... I just want something that is simple to read in the field (or before getting to the field) so I don't have to worry I'm in the wrong spot... then I can...
You're welcome Jaros... just doing the little I can to give back to this great community. I did find it funny that some of the information around there basically states it's the first official gold find in Victoria, then people went there to find their own and most came away empty... kind of a...
BigWave... you could be right there... I'm now surrounded by it... just need the time (and wife permission) to get out and have an explore.
There are a couple of spots I have in mind to do some prospecting I just need to double check the right to do so (Enfield I'm fairly sure mention you can on...
Dang it ozzii... you're making me jealous... I've moved up to the area now (as of about 2 months ago)... and though I'm now only about half hour away... I haven't had a chance to get out there and do some prospecting (looking after family and such).
I'd be over the moon with that picker... as...
Ah ok, thanks for that bit of "recent" history regarding the tunnel. I even said to myself as I was doing that walk "even if I don't find any gold, I've had this great walk out of it." Just as well given my lack of showing in the pan.
I actually took my detector (it's just a cheap Kogan one) to...
So I had to take the step son to see his dad yesterday... as I had to drive quite a distance anyway I suggested changing the handover location so I could sneak off down to Warrandyte for some panning. There were a few people there so I figured I'd take a walk first (I prefer a bit of solitude...
My suspicion would be that the black sand forms a "floor" on the bottom of the pan... the black sand at the top makes way because there is more space for the sand and the gold to move around in... when you get to the bottom the black sand can't move down any further and therefore less room for...
