Digging up relics - Some advice needed

Pretty sure that its heritage listed sites like the kong meng. could be wrong though. Someone upthread talked about sieving for relics and I just wanted to say that one of those big plastic bread trays from the supermarket that the tiptop loaves come on does a pretty good job if you can get your...

Plenty of dryblowers made out of timber, check out some of the puffers in various threads on here

    Nuggety Ground

It sounds trite but nuggety ground is exactly what it sounds like, ground with nuggets in it. Historic records like JD3 says, or modern patches if you can get someone to show you them (ask nicely and bring cans :playful: ). When you get out there dig a hole and see what the wash actually looks...

    Fine grinding .

Two passes does alright with the little angle grinder mill I've got at least, be worth a shot for small runs I'd say. The concentrator sounds interesting.

    Fine grinding .

Worth considering passing the oversize back through the impact mill? This is the one you're building yeah? looks reasonably large. I use the concrete mixer because my impact mill is one of those little angle grinder ones, takes bloody forever to do a bucket or two. the mixer takes a while too...

    Fine grinding .

Couldn't tell you to be honest, I've put about half a ton of 1/2 inch minus through mine so far and other than stripping paint it looks okay. I had considered upgrading the drum but figured i might as well get my moneys worth out of this one first. I have heard of people lining the drum so as...

    Fine grinding .

A mixer by itself works alright for this if its not an ebay cheapie to be honest. Take the lifters out.Bocce balls go pretty well too, just haunt the op shops for them. not now i guess but they're probably pretty cheap at kmart or similar. about 1/3 quartz, 1/3 balls, 1/3 water by weight...

    What did i find ?

Dont breathe the fumes if you do this, that one should pretty much just shatter, being just quartz, but a lot of ore has all sorts of nasty pyrite and sulfide and similar to gas off. Personally I wouldn't worry about crushing unless it has visible gold or sets off a detector though

    What did i find ?

second ones probably pyrite, post it to me for confirmation  . Top ones quartz, a neat little paperweight with some nice exposed structure

Wait til it builds up a bit, then run it through a miller table is a good bet I usually find. Coffee jar full should be at least a two can job. A bit of chalkboard paint on glass does a good job

Ever Found Much On Old Diggings?

Which was this? One of the biggest you found or just in general? Poor bloke probably saw it and had a heart attack if its one of the really big lumps

Yep that's true, doesn't mean there's no gold around there though. I doubt hes on bedrock and black sand usually isn't a bad sign. You'll find a lot of places gold isn't, but not if you don't look in the first place.
