Howdy all, I had a swing today in the Adelaide parklands and turned up this oddity..... it’s got me stuffed as to what it is.
Looks to have oriental markings, made of brass and has 4 separate parts..... any ideas ?

It's a lock for a wooden chest. I had one on mine.

Cheers,

Yep, it's a brass Chinese padlock, as used on my mum's old carved camphorwood chest.

Where it is, there it is.

Push the key in the slot and it pushes the middle mechanism out to open it. Just click it back in to lock it.

Not the most effective lock - if you lose the key you can use a nail file to open it! smile

Cheers,
Megsy

Edit: Just noticed this was my 1,500th post! Milestone! smile

Here is one I found about 30 years ago. Not as solid looking and have had to make a key.1600047303_image_10.jpg
