I thought this may be of interest to some, Europe currently has a whole raft of detectors brands and models that we in Australia may or may not be aware of, and shows what competition Australian and US manufacturers have to contend with. Some of them aren't exactly technological powerehouses, then again it is not really needed for the types of sites and conditions typically experienced. This is not an article on making recommnedations on whether to buy or not, simply a list and pictures of what is out there.

Most are based on two tone ferrous/non-ferrous VLF detectors, in either high or low frequency versions, or sometimes dual frequency. Many do no have screens nor target identification, as in most cases you will be digging all non-ferrous targets.

This is only a part list due to the sheer number of detectors involved, with more to be added later in the week - only includes VLF detectors:

Hello, i am from Bulgaria and I can tell you that 80% of those devices you posted are not working. Running and good Detech others are garbage. Most manufacturers are crooks. If anyone has a question about detectors from Bulgaria, ask me to give him the necessary information! ;)

Greetings!

Greetings!

Thanks for your comments, as with any detector it's up to the purchaser to exercise due diligence and carry out appropriate research before making a purchase. Out of all the detectors listed above, Detech is probably the most well know brand outside of Europe, especially for their coil range moreso than their detectors.

Viking is one of the the oldest detector maker. they started out in Blackburn in Lancashire.
I bought one of there detectors 45 years ago for then the sum of 35 and it is still working.
within a week I had got my money back because were ever you went no one had been.

Putin has sorted out the crooks so maybe Russian detectors are the way to go.I bought a Lada Largus car in 2014 in Moscow and made in Russia and was extremely impressed by the design and build quality. The factory was inspected by Putin. It is very practical and made for Russian conditions.I have fun driving it around paddocks with a foot of snow. You will however need to learn Russian or Bulgarian to read the manuals and buying one online.

Hi ghost.
Dober Dan, I have been to Varna and saw the very interesting artifacts found in this very ancient city at the Varna Archaeological Museum. Bulgaria must be a very interesting country to detect in for ancient artifacts and coins and I can understand why so many detectors are manufactured there.Good luck.

Hi, it looks like no posts here for a while, I have a detech chaser 14kHz model.
Works quite good, bit of a learning curve and takes experience. But found some nice yellow stuff.
