I bought a pick awhile back that was supposed to be a large but i consider this to be small.

I made this pick this arvo out of a light duty car spring. Its thinner than your typical heavier duty spring but heavier than a plough disc. Perfect! 36 handle.

I hope you have big :power:, I prefer the little girlie ones cause I don't.

Fluff, not really mate and i get where you are coming from. Ive seen the full on leaf spring units and i think they are just too much overkill. I wanted to avoid using spring of such thick dia hence trailer spring. I will be making a plough disc pick once i get ahold of a disc but they are hard to come buy especially if you dont want to pay the earth for one. The trailer leaf spring is lighter duty compared to full car spring but heavier duty than plough disc material. The handle is 36 ATM but im sure will be shortened when i find a length im happy with. Im finding the original pick too small/short. It would be fine for shallow diggings but for depth i needed to upgrade.

What I do with my pick handles is sand them down nice and smooth, then give them a few coats of decking oil which stops them from splintering when you drop your pick onto rocks and also from drying out
