Went out to a new spot yesterday afternoon to an old (Horse Training Track) which is now a park. The training track is still there but over grown in some spots but very visible.
Not expecting too much from the spot I managed to pull out a coupe of Pennies which is a good start as I will be going back to search for more, it is huge so I only did one small section. A small flat area looked like a parking lot so I swung the detector over it and hit on a small coin spill....5c 10c, 25 rupiah, $2.
I had Jacob and Kiara with me and as usual they decide to play up but at least I was swinging the coil.
I hit the newer area of the park and got a Junker ring some more coinage $1 - $2 and found a Possum Magic $2 coin woop nice one.

Top hunt gda  :Y: the not sure thing maybe if it's brass could be from a saddle maybe
Maybe it's just the pic but the Possum 2 buck is very unimpressive  did a 7 year old draw it on with a dremil

Yeah good to get one of them which haven't been in circulation long. Heading out this arvo to the site of an Old Racecourse 1880s woop woop and a field of Dreams awaits... :) :Y:

Well the old racecourse is well and truly gone....Some areas where you can detect but most of it is gone....The old Parking area is now new housing which they are still building and I was close enough to it to have a dig.
Lots of rubbish which comes with the territory but I did mange to find some goodies, I never got any pre-decimal coins and before I left I decided to do the swing park but no glory and so I did the basketball court and managed a goldie, 20c and 50c which was good enough for me.....Definitely a spot to go back too and try a different area.

Sweet hunt gda  :Y: Love that lead truck :rainbow:
That lead weight is interesting 8)

Yep B5 it is an interesting one, by the look of it I kind of had an image of a jockey standing on a scale and someone putting the weight on a hook to get correct weight. Who knows aye....

Hey GDA, got my tumbler today :Y: can't wait to try it, thanks for the link. No paper work with it, wondering what steps you took with the pennies? SS

Just use half of the shot with a dribble of dish soap and a handful of pennies fill it to a quarter of water

This arvo I decided to do a full walk of the Training Track, I didn't do much detecting as I wanted to do more of a scouting mission to see which areas would be good for a longer dig... The area I did decide to detect produced a half penny which was crusted really badly, funny thing was the TID it was a 26 on the 705 but to my surprise it turns out to be an Edward VII and from what I can see of the date it may be a 1908....Definitely a spot with some age to it...

Now if only I can find the old jockeys quarters which I know were built on the grounds somewhere but have no pictures....going to be fun in this spot for sure..

Well I went back to the Training Track this afternoon and only managed to pull out $3,25 in spendable coins for the half hour I stayed there.....

Decided to hit the more modern park even though I know a group had detected it earlier on in the year.....I mainly worked around the BBQ areas and Seating to start with which was great hitting target after target....$1 followed by $2 followed by 20c 10c 5c....Small coins spills 20c+5c - $1+20+10+5 it was one of those spots you don't want to leave.....I gridded about 1 1/4 of the park and was satisfied with my 4 hour dig it is one of those parks that replenish every summer....mind you before then I can hit the other 3/4s of the park.
