If you go mate be sure to take a few happy snaps. I'd love to go if it weren't such a long way to go. Never Been to one be a great day and spectacle I'm sure.

Just a reminder for the Far North crew, time to get the pans out and start practicing, glorious weekend ahead, practice practice practice...

See you all at the champs

Cheers, Tone

If your entering again I wish you luck, if not have a great day, looking forward to a follow up.

Well the race has been run.The gold counted and the winners announced. The ghosts of panners past have not shone their light on any PA members present. The competition was fast and furious, after the waves settled and the pans picked clean, the winner was fun.

Here a couple of pic from the day. Gcause and yours truley going for it in the novice. a general shot of a friend Wayne (who may join) and a shot of Kim Turbopan Hillier giving a demo to a prize winner (Bec)

Cheers, Tone

Was my first time going to the event and it was a great day. :D

Great to catch up with everyone from the forum Tone, Grahame, Simon. I was hoping to catch up with some new folk to Cairns but they didn't show.

Caught up with George from NQ Miners Den who has a stand at the event every year.

Met some new friends today too Kim Hillier from TurboPan and Warren and Coleen from NQ Explorers. :D

Joined the the NQ Miners Association as an Associate. :D

Entered 4 events but struck out in each. :( I was robbed, robbed I tells ya, in the Novice event as I cleaned the bucket out and found all 5 nuggies in just over 4 minutes but lost three of them somehow when picking them up out of the pan to put them in the vial, I think I swallowed them, how embarassment. :8

Heres some photos of the day for those who couldn't make it and our interstate and overseas members:

From the local paper! notice the action of the gold as it washes over the edge of the pan, leaving the gravel and other minerals behind.

Cheers, Tone
