You can, but the Sulphide (Sulphure Dioxide) gasses which come out while cooking are extremely noxious and can kill.
 
Hey GT Ive looked into it mate and its a bit of a process like Heatho said the process of roasting produces some yukky gas but it can be done, to put it in perspective thought on the cost v's reward basis I had this stuff tested and it came back as 1.4 gs/t which for a commmercial operation is probably ok but for jo blogs no way i aint chipping out 1 tonnne of rocks for a gram :)

No stress guys Thanks for the info. I'll put it in the too hard basket. Just had a few samples where I'd like to extract the gold where is occurring with pyrite but it's more trouble than its worth.
