Kenards will hire out a Rigid Cable locator at reasonable rates that are very effective on cable and copper telephone conductors. Much better than a metal detector.
cheers db
If the cables energised it should disturb most detectors but you won't be able to pinpoint it. If you only want to locate within a few meters a metal detector might do it.
I know the low voltage in phone cables can upset a metal detector from 10 meters away.
If you need to know with any precision hire a locator.
I think you will find they are called a cable wand a lot of sparkie companys /contractors will have these maybe get a quote for them to find your cables for you? Cheers Muk.
I have an early BFO that sings on underground cables.
Phone lines set it off like crazy. LOL
Power, BZZZZZZZZZ. O
And I have used it for this purpose.
As long as they are connected to an exchange or
are energized, not a problem.
