Just a theory, but I think it may have to do with constantly looking down at their phones and crushing their vocal chords, which, after a while, alters the sound coming from them.

Interesting theory. Another thing we will have related to smartphones is a nation of hunch backs. Have a look at the average teens posture these days.

When we Tech heads are in a multi chat "War " room,

We all say Cool as it is a short way of saying,
" Yes, I have got that am and happy to do so if
you wish and am about to start the process. "

You don't get much of a chance to say any thing unless you
need the undivided attention of a specialist who has remote access
to quickly over come issues.

Sounds funny a lot of people saying coool, cool when things are going well. LOL

Refered to as Codespeak. We use it a lot and it brush's off.

Any one around me can hear it but, I do not launch into lot's of Cools or
that other crap.

Hate that.

Another very annoying recent speech trait is the number of people that start a conversation by using the redundant 'So'. If you look and listen closely People are using it in speech as well as in the written form, very prominent in many YouTube videos.

As an example ..... "So I just bought a new Garrmine XYZ3000 detector .....
Once heard it cannot be unheard.

Way back in the 60's when I was in school I estimated that we copy what goes on the US but about 6 years behind. These days with all the media coverage that 6 years has been eroded but we still basically just follow the majority.

Vocal fry is like audible duck face.

Vocal frying happens with Parkinsons patients sometimes, one difficulty they have later in the disease progression is being unable to get good airflow caused by shallow breathing, this combined with low volume can make them difficult to hear and understand, it is further exacerbated by the effect of DBS or medications which increase tempo.
