Parks Victoria have recently completed a set of maps to help visitors enjoy prospecting in designated parks while ensuring the natural, cultural and heritage environments are preserved. Parks Victoria District Manager Ms Karen Doyle says prospecting is a popular recreational activity in the Goldfields Region that generates a strong connection between contemporary prospectors and the history of gold discovery. Were pleased to announce the set of eight Central Goldfields Prospecting Maps, developed in consultation with the Prospectors and Miners Association Victoria (PMAV). The maps will be a great resource to help prospectors locate the areas where they can undertake prospecting, said Ms Doyle. The eight new maps cover Bendigo Regional Park & Greater Bendigo National Park, Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park, Heathcote-Graytown National Park and Maldon Historic Area in the Northern Goldfields. The set also includes Kara Kara National Park, Kooyoora State Park, Paddys Ranges State Park and Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve in the Western Goldfields. Relevant information and maps are available by visiting Parks Victoria - Fossicking and prospecting. https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/things-to-do/fossicking-prospecting
