Newbie - looking for advice to get started...

Hi

Thanks for accepting me / us as a new member to the group.

We are new to prospecting/fossicking.
We have been thinking about this for over 12 months, my partner tried when he was a teenager and thought it would be fun to do as a couple.

We are heading off to Inverell / Glen Innes this week to try fossicking for sapphires - for the first time ever.

In your expert / experienced opinion what should we know and do and expect - as beginners who are keen to spend a few days just enjoying the experience of being outdoors fossicking in Inverell / Glenn Innes?

Where should we consider starting?
What might we expect to find?
Realistically, can we expect to find sapphires etc?

Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated...

If we love it... we are considering trying other locations next time.

Thank you... have been to BB today, its clised until 2 Jan - but can enter to fossick on the creek bed for $10.
7Oaks is closed indefinitely.
The Gem shop and Visitors Info Centre in Inverell are sold out of bags of wash... and not sure when they will get more.
So... might try Glen Innes tomorrow.
Good fun so far. ?
