Hi All, Just back from Mooralla, where we camped for a couple of nights. We found a bunch of Smokey Quartz crystals and a few clear ones too. Thats the best one, though small its almost perfect and the edges and points are very sharp. Thats our haul for a day of digging. We found most of these a little bit less than 20cm below the ground, we basically followed a seam of decomposing ryolite, which looks like a red clayish meterial. The campsite was good, but there were so many European wasps! Literally hundreds, which put a bit of a downer on things. Another bloke who was there had dug a big hole, several meters deep and several accross. He kept to himself, but came round later to show us the massive crystal he found. Was about size of a golf ball but perfectly shaped and very clear. Anyway Its worth a trip if your keen! James
