Maybe (I stress maybe) the below may be of interest and might point you to a good Gold area. I watched Aussie gold hunters and noted one group found a gold ring from back in the 1850's which it turned out has a Lease number on it from the 1850's . That lease number is from Kalgoorlie (or Coolgardie but I think former) The 1850's miner apparently had the ring made from gold he found on that lease. It has Coolgardie stamped on ring along with 18 carat. They then researched the Lease number and found then it was Kalgoorlie and a company (4 years ago ?) had the lease (might not have lease now) They got permission to Metal detect for 1 day only and found a good number of ounces of sponge / gold .

They seemed to blur out the number on the ring in parts of programme , but I found the clip on youtube and freeze framed at 1:16 and the last 3 digits appear to be 619. Looking again at 1:13 frame 1st number may be a "3" or a "5" so either 3619 or 5619 Of course the 1st number can only be any of 9 numbers . They said the lease was 4.8 KM's from Kalgoorlie (or Coolgardie)

Maybe lease is available still ,but wont take you long to find out and maybe it is available ? That is only small clip but in the programme itself on the lease / tenement area which they were allowed to metal detect on ,they found lots of gold (Sponge Gold) ,plus of course that 1850's Miner had made the ring from gold he found on that area. Anyway clearly the land they were on had lots of gold (Sponge Gold) on it and maybe you can make something of that info.

That YouTube clip says the lease they're working is 120km north of Kalgoorlie near Loch's Hill. FYI, Coolgardie is 38km south-west of Kalgoorlie.

Your post also mentions 1850's miners, but gold at Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie wasn't discovered until 40 years later, in the early 1890's.

'Reality' programs like this one are produced for public entertainment, but they are not documentaries. Those with actual Australian prospecting/mining experience are pretty skeptical about many of the finds and stories depicted in them.

It is often possible to tell where gold comes from due to small differences in the ratio of alloyed metals which give a “signature” for the origin of the gold. Comparing the signature of the gold in the ring and the sponge gold would answer a question but may pose others.
Surprised the programme makers didn’t do that, which poses another question.

For the ring to be stamped 18ct, it must have been made from alloyed gold sourced from an approved refinery, so whether it actually contains gold from the locality is questionable.
