I bet the Pollie's wage increases won't be thrown overboard.
More likely just trying to cut spending.
A lot of the information on Trove is archived or held elsewhere (National & State libraries for example) but collated via the online database (Trove) making it easier to find.
Will be a shame if it goes. I remember a year or two ago there was talk of axing it but it was given a reprieve - hopefully that happens again.
It would be a real shame if trove dissapeared. I am just reading a letter from premier Forrest of WA to the Prime Minister of South Australia ( didnt know SA had a priminister back then ) about the Phillip patent dry blower. I am now trying to work out what the Phillip patent dry blower was ? And where the mine they mentioned is in SA ? You can have a real nerdy and interesting adventure with this infomation. Its an incredibly valuable resource.

Look further down.
I did, but it only took me to the page of misspelled text and I could not get from there to the original. So I used the date and page to search it on Trove.
i.e. it says "original text" in the link and that is what it is - machine-translated from the image. Better to give the "image" link. You get a choice of image, PDF and TXT

You are cynical - why would the re-writers of history want to remove evidence of our past misdeeds (it would severely reduce ammunition for victimology). It is one reason why Trove is so important - it records what people actually thought (and in many cases also did) without the distortion of later political correctness. Warts and all. Not all of it comfortable for either side of most arguments. It puts things in the context of the times - I was researching the road from Melbourne to Gippsland and found comments like "it is now safe to travel from Melbourne to Bairnsdale without a rifle". Not just European and indigenous conflict, but also the huge numbers of bushrangers..... Puts life of the times in context.

They'd need to also get rid of all the source records held at places like the National & State Library too.

I don't think anybody has said that Trove will be shut down - just that it will not continue to have info added to it (still a great pity).

Trove saved thanks to $42.2 million Federal lifeline
The Albanese Government has provided digital archive Trove with $33 million over four years plus an additional $9.2 million in indexed ongoing annual funding.3 Apr 2023

Trove do accept donations from the public too. Especially goes to specialist equipment.
I'm very pleased to share good news that the government has made a pre-budget announcement on support for Trove, whose funding was due to expire on 30 June this year.
The Library will receive $33m over the next four years, then $9.2m per annum ongoing and indexed from July 2027, securing Trove's future.
This very welcome commitment is, of course, very much a reflection of how much the Australian community values Trove, and we are enormously grateful to the community for their support. Trove is a place for all Australians, which is connected to all our places. It is a truly national treasure, and an international world leader. The overwhelming support we have received from the Trove community, both new and old, has been humbling. We are honoured to be the custodians of Trove. We take this role on behalf of the National Library and you, our donors, very seriously.
