12 guage paper shot, decorative ring thing?

Iv been trying to find an old site where the early settlers of a town lived while building the train tracks before the town was established... long story cut short iv nearly found them.. but anyway..

First up is a paper shotgun cartridge found on the hill nearby. I know the plastic shells came in about the 60's?
Is there any gun buffs that would know more of the age of this one?

Next up...

I got a signal and started digging, bout 2 inches down the soil turned into ash/charcoal and in there I found this decorated piece, the patern is stamped into it and shows on the other side aswell.
Size about 75mm diameter.

Found a few other bits but nothing too exciting..

Any info/ideas/guesses?
