In my excitement to get back out detecting yesterday (Thursday 14th) I forgot to pack the pick. I was using the SDC and didn't have any real deep digs. All my junk finds were shallow shot gun pellets. The lever was okay for breaking up the dirt and my green scoop was a useful scraper. It was good to get out again. In a way it was good to dig the target slowly and note the soil colour and make up. i.e quartz, iron stone gravels etc. Using the lever to chip and then scraping with the scoop I was alerted to the fact that both these targets may not be pellets because of two things. One was their depth and secondly the hardness of the ground. Two nice bits to start back. 0.722g and 0.382g. Now I have a starting point for next week. Cheers Bob.
