No water in Deep Creek, where to go?

Pumping the water back up the creek in genius! But yeah, I don't have a pump suitable for that. I might just stick to moving the taipans and browns out the way and do some panning.

No water in Deep Creek, where to go?

Hey there rock washers, where does everyone go when there is no water at Deep Creek? Looking for anywhere within 2 or 3 hours of Brisbane. Does that pretty much mean I head to NSW?

    I think I have a problem.

After a session of prospecting at the creek, I was rinsing my clothes in the laundry, looked at the black sand in the sink from my clothes and thought, hmm, I should pan that. Yep, I think I might have a problem.

    Poor mans sluice

Hello again In the absence of an actual sluice, a couple of weeks ago at DC I tried laying a 45 litre bucket on it's side in the water flow and set up rocks to only allow water in to half of it. Then added material that I had only put through my coin sieve (about 12mm), 1 small shovel at a time...

Making an underflow trap - first attempt

Hi all I ended up running another test after sieving the material a bit smaller. It sort of worked............kinda, just very slow. The pipe for the trap was way to large (90mm) and required too much water flow to be overly effective. I did away with the thin aluminum baffle and used a 12mm...

Making an underflow trap - first attempt

Did a test run yesterday but didn't classify the material small enough. About half of it was gravel about 10mm so it kept clogging up, but it showed promise. I'll classify to 5mm and try again.

Making an underflow trap - first attempt

Cheers AtomRat, I'm hoping the rounder shape will give more action to the water flow. I'm just going to use clamps on the baffle for now so I have full control over depth and angle before deciding on the location of the adjustable slotted holes.

Making an underflow trap - first attempt

Not sure on cleaning out yet Jemba, I'm thinking tipping it on it's side and flushing water in to it so it drains out the low side in to a bucket for now. Time will tell if it even catches lead first though, let alone gold. HA HA

Making an underflow trap - first attempt

Hi all Just thought I'd share some pics of my latest little project. No idea if it's going to work or not, but hey, figured I'd have a go using up some scrap I had laying around the factory. Polycarbonate sides, recycled plastic sheeting for the deck, PVC pipe and a sheet of aluminium for the...

    Sluice wanted

Hi all I'm looking for my first sluice. I was going to buy an Angus MacKirk Grubbstake Sluice from a guy selling one on facebook for 70 bucks, but he changed his mind at the last minute and decided to keep it. I'm open to suggestions and will consider all offers, but I don't want to spend a...

    Home made tumbler

It wasn't a buggy, pretty much a hand pull cart, but with a motor and trigger to assist. The trigger was stuffed. I also can't play golf for S#&T, ha ha.
