    Hi Pig Iron - I am in a similar boat to you but have done lots of homework recently. Been talking to Miners Den and have narrowed down the best detector to use and that is the SDC 2300 which does not let overhead wires interfere with signals and is waterproof up to 10ft, it will find gold down...

    Been reading and just wondered if the GPX 4500 can be an all rounder in beach detecting. It seems that it covers what the SDC 2300 can do, so why not beaches?

    Pinpointer Beach Detector

    A mate has a pinpointer and put it in a plastic bag and was using it down the beach as a detector by slowly swinging the plastic bag along the sand. Is this an innovative & cheaper way to detect or a waste of time?
