    NE Vic wanna be.

Thanks Bigwave & AtomRat, His name is Rossi & he adopted me about 5 yrs back when i was close to my lowest. He means everything to me & kept me sane & is so bloody smart, winning hearts everywhere we go. The meds m8 have a longer list of side affect symptoms than what the disease does, including...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

AtomRat, Yeah m8, i don't rush things when i do them & avoid bending over as much as possible, sitting down to dig at all times. I made up series of solid tools with short handles so i can dig while on the ground. I will be trying to target mainly areas of bush that have been burnt out in this...

    American Gold Prospectors on youtube.

G'day Ben, i have been looking at a lot of youtube video's of late & feel the same about this Aussie couple, finding them to be very informative also being part of this Forum. Not sure whether you had come across them or not. When you watch these, other Aussie prospectors videos come up on the...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

i guess i can put a bit of fine gold in the pan with this material & see how easy or hard it is to separate ? I actually wasted a lot of time looking for these rocks in the refining process not knowing what they were. If they are only agate or jasper, then it would be waste of time worrying...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

Experiment of crushing mystery rocks part 1 complete. Appears not to be any pure gold in the rocks, yet maybe some black sand. Things to do next time : i am not sure whether i crushed it quite fine enough, as all is heavy & hard to pan. Was hard to see how fine it was when some turns to dust...

    NE Vic wanna be.

OH BTW, it is not the amount i find that drives me, though it would help in the future. With me it is the chase that i am passionate about, actually being able to understand where to look & digging it. Applies to gems also. ;) cheers & lots of luck & knowledge to you all.

    NE Vic wanna be.

A little about me, yet where to start staying as brief as possible. I grew up mainly in Vic, but moved around like a gypsy with my oldman working on construction. He had an interest in fossicking for gems & prospecting in gold & i guess i was interested in getting his attention so i took on his...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

AtomRat, Yeah m8 i have heaps of tiny ones that i kept thinking if it was gold in it that would be a shame to throw it away. so i will put heap in old rag & i have large sledgy that i can hammer it on, just a matter of pulling my finger out & biting the bullet to find out the truth i guess. I'll...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

Shivan they look like they are separate & is pretty much just the 3 colours with variation in the gold through to almost rusty brown. Much like you see in a lot of quartz. Actually a lot of smaller stuff is red with the white & black, like rose quartz.

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

This is one of the biggest ones with only touch of gold colour in it, is about 5 mil thick at thickest & has sun behind it giving it the Sapphire salute. This has sun reflecting off camera to show colour on it as trying to see through it. Dry on plastic plate after sun gone down. Dry...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

Thanks Parko, for your gr8 info. It is in the Mitta Mitta river system which is all part of the same line of tin that is down that way & i believe may even go further down towards Bendigo, which i read from book written about this area, but not much info in it really. I will be heading that way...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

This is the Flour gold, which my father who dredged here 30 odd years ago had mentioned fine gold with big content of silver in it. In this pan i got rid of the bulk of the black sand & i am just surprised at the amount of the flour silver/gold there is here. This next pic shows how much...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

Thanks AtomRat. could quite possibly be as you say. Yeah don't have any gem equipment at all. I am getting a lot of small stuff in my concentrates, so i may just smash it up down to a powder to eliminate the possibility of tin & gold being in it. Then i may chase down someone who is into...

Mystery rocks found in NE Victoria while panning for gold.

mbasko Not sure whether this pic helps, but i am pretty sure that is not Jasper as had tonnes of where i lived in QLD. Jasper does not get waxy look about it like this does. I will try to get good pic of them dry & see how it looks. Cheers m8..
