While waiting on my detector to arrive in the mail i started doing some research around my local area. I had know idea how interesting some of the history is or even what was here in the mid 1800's. So its not just finding coins etc that is part of the thrill, it is the lead up to it as well...

Just ordered new xterra 705 from miners den. Getting the gold pack plus cover and headphones thrown in..hopefully here at the end of the week. Then the 4500 when tax man gives me my money back :)

Thanks wally, clermont is closest to me, sounds like further north is better. When i travel south it will be highbanker for gold and gems, but of course detectors will still be in the car cause you never no :) so maybe still lean towards the 705 as it will be new machine..i change my mind like...

once again scratching my head..but only on the second detector..gpx 4500 is happening, just need to figure out prices new vs old for second machine and bit more research :)

But in saying that on my last comment is the TDI ok on coin,relics etc?

Couple of cm is a bit concerning wally...maybe secondhand detector will be the go but then i have to worry about warranty? I originally going for TDI oz series then changed to the gpx 4500 for me..maybe a second hand TDI instead of the xterra 705 would be better for the misses if i can get one...

If she gets a signal i will push her out of the way and i will have the pick Nugget :)

OK so after reading everyones input on different detectors i decided to go for the gpx 4500 , but need to wait for this years tax return to invest, I cannot afford two detectors for me and the wife so next question.. Is the xterra 705 ok for a second as it is cheap..Does it do as they say find...

If you are going for coins/relics,jewlery you could tell them you are looking for virginity, something people have lost and will never get back?
