    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Some more gold p0rn for everyone. Opening up a new claim in the deep south of NZ. Pictures don't really show the 8 degree water temp and below zero mornings. All glacial gold, and some very successful detecting (often 100m up from the river on bedrock) with zero mineralisation. Such pretties...

Dredging in Australia for recreational activities IS illegal..

I can attest to that. I spent a week on a 6" in southern NZ and I was moving a serious amount of material per day. One day in particular I dredged down to 3m deep of alluvials before hitting bedrock. ( I could stand on bedrock and the water which initially was only a few inches deep was well...

I've been over in god's own over the last month or so and have had an epic trip down to Queenstown. Here's a teaser of the results, and I'll slot in a full recount once I'm back next week.

HeadsUp cut me a couple of bits some months ago but have changed plans and building a wider sluicebox to fit the new pump. $20 each, will post for $14 statewide or pickup Melbourne Point cook (or can bring into CBD work days) Just going to sit around looking pretty otherwise.

Gold Detecting, Fossicking and Prospecting in NSW. Information and questions.

So after a couple of enjoyable years poking around the mountains of Victoria and having a fantastic time, There's a high chance I might have to re-locate to Sydney for work early 2017. I cant say I will miss the long miserable spring here, but boy will I miss getting up into Gippsland and my...

    Highbanker and Bilge

Between heading back to NZ shortly for Xmas (down to Queenstown also for a week poking around in some private land), and then a month in Nepal shortly after I get back I've realised most of my gear is not going to get a run this summer. And I have plans for a much bigger setup anyways so can...

Honda gx270 with Keene php500 pump

Hey pennyweight, I was considering putting together a Honda GX200 and p180 pump. this is a lot bigger though. Where are you located (im in Melbourne) and what were you initially intending it to be used for? I'm just trying to google what sized hoses it takes. It might be too big for my plans and...

    Aluminium Sheets 2mm $6 - Melbourne (Preston)

You could try pm'ing HeadsUp. I bought 2 sections of expanded off him and he cut to the size I needed. If you are looking for catwalk try electrical distributors. I picked up a 4m sheet from Lawrence and Hanson. they have 300mm or 400mm sections and I think I paid like $40 for a 4m length. AWKM...

    WTB: 50m of 1 1/4" (32mm) Layflat

I'm hoping someone has some lying around they are not using. Failing that maybe someone wants to go halves with me for a new 100m roll (best price per m new). Or if someone can point me to a local vic distributor. My best price so far is $171 for 50m (Rato power products) cheers

    Interesting pics

Maybe it wasn't worth the effort to break it up at the time (when 600 men were averaging 1 ounce/day/man in this area for a number of years). My estimation of it is that its way older than 100 years since it was laid down. this stuff is seriously hard. I'm just curious. I guess at some point...

    Interesting pics

Here's a spot in a known gold bearing river system. Its in an area where the valley opens out and the river has changed course over time, exposing this bank. My question is why did the oldtimers not dig this all out. There's extensive workings all through the area. Its VERY tough hard packed on...
