    Highbanking alone?

"Hi. My name is Golddigg. It's been 3 days since my last highbanker purchase..." You've got some serious options there. I guess half the fun is deciding what to take with you.

    good or bad

Could oil potentially soak into what you're cutting - particularly if it's a bit porous - and ruin it?

    Trommel Build..question for the sparkys

Just wondering if there is any science or recommendations behind how fast a trommel should turn? I've been thinking about a pelton drive trommel add-on to my Walbanker. I think you could make a pelton drive reasonably easily from metal scraps (or maybe spoons :) ) and you wouldn't have to lug...

    Highbanker expanded mesh

Hi Lancebarker Not sure if you're from Vic or Canberra, but MetalMart at Fyshwick (Canberra) has a scrap metal facility out the back and usually have the vertical catwalk mesh cheap. I still haven't been able to locate the sloped mesh as yet. DirtyBob

    turon river track

Half the fun is getting there. Thought you were going to stop and setup until I saw bitumen again. A lot of river crossings... Just need a bucket line on the front and a sluice on the back...

    walnliz panning instructional video

Amazing how aggressive you can be with a Super Sluice. I have other Garrett pans I really like, but Santa was very thoughtful this year ;) and gave me Super Sluice (how did he know?) You'd want to be confident to use Wal's swirling technique as shown in the vid. I guess practice makes perfect.

    Warning about Oallen Forde

I've been down there a few times on day trips recently. Each time there have been a few people camping on the gravel bar and on the other side of the road (opposite the old campground). I didn't see the signs but not sure if I just missed them, or somebody pulled them down. Not saying it's...

    looking for some places

You could easily spend the day there with a pan looking for spots before lugging a highbanker. Too hot for me at the moment but good excuse for swim down there.

    looking for some places

Hi Todd Not sure about detecting spots, but Oallen Ford is a good place for kids and a highbanker. There's gold everywhere so he kids won't be disappointed - trick is finding spots with more gold than others. 2wd access to the gravel bar below the bridge. Head to Neriga via Tarago and you can't...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Hi mdv Used the mesh because I ran out of angle (and time). Mesh was leftover from a chicken coop project. Seemed surprisingly strong but in combination with light grade cable tray didn't work so well. Will put angle, tray support and a new heavy duty cable tray on before the next outing...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Just back from the Eldorado meetup - Walbanker maiden voyage. Few lessons learned... Make sure you get the Heavy Duty cable tray. Although being assured what I purchased was heavy duty... It's just not. Held up for the weekend but that's about it. Looking sideways at other Walbankers, I...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Thanks blisters I clamped a strip of steel under the leg pieces to give a bit of angle when I drilled them... But they came out straight anyway??? My hole saw is in bad shape and figure that contributed. Have some spare box section and the leg supports are just riveted to the sluice section so...
