    Aldi Adventuridge Metal Detector

Requires 2 x 9v batteries. Does not come with them.

    Aldi Adventuridge Metal Detector

I took two back to Seven Hills the other day. I will keep one, but I was pretty underwhelmed overall. After working out how much a 9V rechargeable battery setup would cost I took them back and bought a used xterra 305 for $250. Already have heaps of AA rechargeables and the difference in...

    Aldi detector hunt

Glad it's working for you guys. Any time I get a sweet silver ping it's just a can. I'm having very little luck finding anything of value. Even in parks that have been around for 80 years. For me it's just junk junk junk.

    Aldi Junk

Had to wait for the floor guy at my unit early this morning so I hit up a local park this morning. Now I know this park has been in place since at least 1943 because it's on the 1943 aerial survey. Found a lot of junk as seen below, but you will notice three coins on the left. Started off with...

    my first finds

Yep, left to right, front to back, corner to corner. I could usually narrow it down to a patch of about 10cm2. Then I had to dig the whole thing. Got a pinpointer now. Just need a rough idea and the pinpointer does the rest. Pop the find with my chisel. Love it.

I'm up to about 6hrs on a couple of Duracell 9Vs and still going strong as far as I know. I have swapped them a couple of times as recommended by the manual. Someone who bought one last year would probably be able to tell you.

Oh it did. Takes so much frustration out. Especially when the little Aldi units aren't always the best at locking down an exact location.

The minelab didn't skip a beat. Found everything no problems at all. This was my route today. About 1 1/2 hrs to go 43 odd meters. I only did the north side of the benches too. Need to go back and do the south side. That being said, I dug everything today. Didn't leave anything behind.

I ended up getting the Minelabs one. http://www.minersden.com.au/minelab-pro-find-25-pinpointer/ Picked it up from Miner's Den in Sydney

Rock, get a pinpointer - seriously. It's a whole new world!

    Aldi Junk

Picked up the pinpointer this morning and had a hit at the original park again. I was right in my assumption that the benches were falsing out the detector but I did get a couple of signals under the seats. First off, the pinpoint is AMAZING. I reckon I worked 4 or 5 times faster. I popped...

    Aldi Junk

I work very close to http://www.minersden.com.au/ I might just pop in there on Monday and grab a pinpointer. I presume they'll have stock as it's the only pinpointer they sell. I actually ended up with 3 Aldi detectors so by the time I return or sell 2 of 3 I'll have covered the cost of the...

Wow nice. My targets aren't normally shallow enough for that when cutting my plug with the chisel. Maybe I'll see if I can find my gyprock knife.

Hi Jules, Do you use a pinpointer or do you manage to pop targets using just the knife?

    Aldi Junk

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I'll keep at it. What sort of pinpointer do people recommend? I picked up one of these shovels from Bunnings this arvo. http://www.bunnings.com.au/cyclone-courtyard-shovel_p3360680 I'm going to drill out the rivet and put a screw with a wingnut in there so...

    Aldi Junk

I might switch up a few different locations and see if I have more luck. Apart from going off when it's literally under a metal bench or up against a chainlink fence, every target that pings has metal in the hole. I do get a bit confused when something reads as a high up ping, totally silver...

Also need a decent little shovel. I'm spending far to much time and energy digging with my little hand shovel. It's good, but it just doesn't move enough dirt and the clay slows me down. I took out my little folding shovel. This style -...

    Aldi Junk

Went out again nice and early today. Spent almost 3hrs out in total. Only finds of any value - a 2c piece and a zipper tag. Not sure if it's me, or the machine, or the location. First try was at a local sports ground, around the bench seats/shade trees. Unfortunately the benches were aluminium...

Thanks for the tips. I'll report back after I try again - Somewhere that's not a junk pit this time.

Suburban Parks vs Reserves - Same thing?

They're called reserves but they're just parks with children's play equipment and such. I'll just go hunting and make sure I leave no trace of my activities until someone with any authority pulls me up I think. Was down in a creeky type reserve today and a council guy actually came past and...
