    Are we being watched?

Only bad thing is people only remember the bad stories. Our positive well behaved manner is normal so its over looked becasue nothing stands out. Something negative stands out like a 3 oz nugget in a gold pan. To put it into perspective. I Dad and I can shoe 1000 horses and do a bird of a job...

    Advice on a pinpointer

Not at all. I just have a garrett detector so staying with one brand seems fair.

Dangers of metal detecting at night

Just send a few back, who are they going to tell? They're not going to go down to the local cops and explain that they were shot at while poaching. You also have to be carefull of wild dogs in some areas too. I know mudgee has a bit of a problem out there last I heard.

    Advice on a pinpointer

I've already got the Garrett detector so I may as well stick with the one brand.

    Advice on a pinpointer

Hi guys Im looking to get a pin pointer in the not to distant future. I have my eyes on either the Garrett Pro Pointer or Minelab Pro Find 25 Both are roughly the same price. There are $30 ones on eBay but some how I don't think they have the goods to keep up. What's the general consensus on...

Dangers of metal detecting at night

I often attend fires on and around the local beaches being in Fire and Rescue NSW and ill be the first to tell you that it can be a hostile place at times. The beach at night seems to attract a breed of intoxicated teenagers. You won't get me out there alone, beaches are way to isolated up here.

People in my area are skint and only carry silver.

I went for my second swing today with the AT Gold at a local small beach that sees a fair amount of traffic. All I got was: 2x 5c 1x 10c 4 beer bottle caps a bobby pin a small sinker a hair clip a small toy police car a pair of glasses which I left on the wall above where i found them just...

    Breaking up clay

Soak the clay in a bucket as long as you can. Should break up pretty good after a while. Maybe add a little soap to stop it sticking together.

First time out with the AT Gold

I only switch over to it if im having trouble finding a target. If it comes up iron after a few digs, i fill it in and keep on truckin.

First time out with the AT Gold

Ah ok. I noticed that the 2 coins had a disinct harsh tone where as all the trash had a different faded tone on the edges. Good to know. Only 98.5 hours left to fully learn everything.

First time out with the AT Gold

Thanks guys. Im hoping to hit the beaches soon to increase my skills. Im getting used to the all metal mode before I start playing with the discrim settings too much but it is good to hear the iron tone so you know if its junk or a coin. The gold fields will have to wait a while. Hoping to get...

    coin & bullet

If its older military surplus, it will most likely only have a date and makers mark on it. Only the newer sporting ammo has the actual cartridge stamped on it. Also older ammo had primers that were more effected by water and it looks like the case has let the elements in over time which would...

    coin & bullet

That looks like a 9mm luger (aka 9x19mm Parabellum). Throw up a few dimensions if you can. Base diameter, case length and bullet diameter and ill be able to tell you. Case should me roughly 19mm long and base will be 9.93mm across.

First time out with the AT Gold

I finally picked up the garrett AT Gold from the post office this morning and set it all up. Took 5 minutes to put together and it was straight out into the back yard to throw a few coins around. I found a heap of peg springs and a piece of an old jim beam can but that was enough playing around...

    Are we being watched?

Im on a few forums that have been the subject of the media over the past few years. Not the forum its self but the subject matter. The anti's supposedly have a way of spinning photo's or posts around and using them against us. They have no rational thoughts and a spun story in the right area...
