I found another trap for novice detectorists today

Nothing like having to hear someone's life story when you really don't want to. That's why it's better to work in pairs, you can walk off and leave your mate to listen to it all!

    Someone I know......

You can say that again. OH&S or WHS as they call it now has gone through the roof over the past ten years. Nearly every large employer has an OH&S advisor on the payroll these days

Good samaritan gets screwed by thief

It's a shame that some of the most trusted professions aren't so trust worthy after all... Glad they ended up doing the right thing

What do you do with your gold?

And ebay is all done from home (except the trip to the post office). A win win :P

What do you do with your gold?

Would you expect to get a higher return from a broker than what you would from Ebay for example?

What do you do with your gold?

Has anyone here sold via a "gold broker/agent" before? if so, is it a long drawn out process?

    DIY Crevice Sucker

Id be keen to see a pic or two Newby. Unfortunately here in Tassie we aren't permitted to use power/electrical driven devices for prospecting.

    Good all round detectors

I'm in the process in researching detectors. I was wondering if there is a good all rounder? Good for gold hunting as well as coin and other bits and pieces? or would it be better to run two detectors? Cheers Matt

    Starting out (Prospecting)

Thanks everyone for your reply's/info. It's very much appreciated! If I was to buy one individual pan from the garret line, would you go with the 15" super sluice? Would this cover all types of panning? (Small flakes)
