    Detectormods

I'd just like to point out about Minelab repairing detectors out of warranty. To my knowledge, they no longer do component level repairs on the circuit boards. So if there is a fault with a component on your main board, you will need to buy a new one. They still do things like the flexible strip...

Gp 3500... Should I get it?

Most likely this will be a genuine buy. The prices on the second hand market have taken a hit since the release of the GPX6000. There have been a lot of really well priced GPX's and this will naturally push the price of the less capable machines down. $1400 for a gpx4000, that is a great price...

    GPX 5000 battery voltage.

Excellent, that makes sense. Regarding the Panasonic cells, you need to check the discharge curves for the cells you select. The low battery voltage of the detector is 7.2v, which is 3.6v/per cell. You will find that at 3.6v the Panasonic cells and a bulk majority of other cells on the market...

    GPX 5000 battery voltage.

When you say it measures 7.8v, is this using the battery check function in the gpx menu , or using a multimeter in the battery plug? If using a miltimeter you need to check pins 1 and 4. Pin 5 is the charge input and will show a lower voltage than what is in the battery. The battery should reach...

    4500 V's 6000

Without measuring anything, I would have to say yes. Early sampling is one key factor to getting the really small and prickly gold. Where that sampling should be measured from I believe is from the falling edge of the flyback pulse as that is the point where targets stop being stimulated and...

DIY Coil Repair - Cracked Nugget Finder Z Search Coil

Hi Goldaddict, For repairing coils, some old skid plate dissolved in acetone to make a thick paste works nicely. However, even though you are rough on your gear, I would still contact Rohan and see what he says. I think he will be very interested as your usage has shown up some weak points and...

    SDC2300 batteries 12v damage?

Yeah, that sounds more likely to me. I think the newer SDC comes with a rechargeable li-ion pack, so perhaps it was this? If so then the detector itself should be fine. It should still work from C cells to test the detector out. Cheers Mick

    SDC2300 batteries 12v damage?

Hi JohnnyGold, So he applied 12v to the actual detector? Or was it just the battery? Has he tried new/different batteries? If it was applied to the actual detector it may or may not be economically repairable. I'm not sure how one would smell smoke though as the detector itself is waterproof...

Glad you got it sorted. Thankfully I made it back before the country imploded again.. :bomb: Cheers Mick

    GPX4500 Possible Coil Issue?

Hi Rusty, If you put your 11" mono on, does it still work? I take it that it was bump sensitive? If you just sit it on the ground and wave a target over it does it give normal depth?(coil switch in mono) If you switch the coil switch to DD does it still detect the target ok? If so, then your...

Nugget Finder Mono 8x6 Sadie Coil

I have to agree with Nenad that the 12x8 evo is a really good coil and will do the job of the sadie. When I put this coil on my 5000, my detector came to life! And if you ever think your detector is too chattery with cranked up settings, use an sdc for a day or 2, then go back to your gpx...

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

Hi Nenad, On the SD the switch makes the coil receive from the Tx winding only. The sd receiver is a single channel(receiver) only. The GP(x) series have 2 receivers that receive from both tx and rx coils at the same time and then, depending on the coil switch position, the received signals are...

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

Hi Geoff, All is well! It's starting to cool off a bit here so will hopefully get some more time out detecting now. Bought a 2200 a while ago with the intention of being my guinea pig. It came with one of your Treasure Mate powered speakers which still works a treat. Anyway took the detector...

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

Hi Ian, good to hear from you, it's been a while since we last chatted. Moved house last year and now living right in the heart of the triangle. Now that I can walk out my door and test detectors in nice hot ground, I have been taking the time to go back over my mods and find new little...

    Minelab SD2000 tips, settings, questions

Hi StayyerAU, Saw your post here and went digging in my email. Apologies for not replying to your email sooner, Gmail had kindly filed it in my promotions folder. So to make this thread complete, I'll also answer your mono DD switch question here. The Mono DD switch was for DD coils, so you...

    Minelab GPX4500 tips, settings, questions

If the battery protection trips, all you need to do is hook it up to the charger until the charge light has cycled and it is good to go again. I have seen batteries trip from a bad contact in the power lead(not soldered properly to the plug!). Another thing can be a short in the power lead as...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Thanks for clarifying. If it were one of mine, you'd have 4 green/grey knobs and one toggle switch on the front, a 4 pin sd/gp power plug and two rotary switches on the back for frequency and timing. There are pictures on my website on the F1A4 page. User experience is completely different I...

MINELAB F1A4 ex military metal detectors - tips, settings, questions

Just curious, was the one you had done by Detectronics or Detectormods? Reason I ask is that the Level 3 that I(Detectronics) do and the Detectormods Level 3 are completely different mods. Woody got his "Level 3" to open market just before we did and we had already coined it a Level 3 during...

    Scanning/imaging gold detectors

Yep! I once was talking to the seller of one of these and I asked if it is so good, why don't you just go find your own gold with it, his response was that expeditions are expensive!!! LOL Really? Tank of fuel, dial in the nearest biggest shallow nugget and the rest is like perpetual motion...
