    Outback Survival tips

DWT, I do this every Friday night when I leave the Club, never thought of closing my eyes to help adjust my line of sight and when I take two steps the opposite way I usually achieve the fall down bit you talk about!

The definition of a bad prospector

One of my favourite sayings is "you can't educate idiots and you can't put brains in statues". Enough said.

    Stream Centreline

I think you better talk to the pertinent water authority. Is this property in NSW or Victoria? Unless specified in land title deeds, land owners who have a river or stream running through or adjoining their property gave certain riparian water rights under the common law, but I am sure that in...

local town council asked me to leave a public park..... can they?

In the same vein a Canadian bloke travels out each year to Bluesfest at Byron and sweeps the venue ground each morning before the concerts start for dropped coin. He says it pays for his meals and drinks for the day.

New prospecting and gold panning company

A few of the members of the Narellan RFS, including myself, trundled up to Hill End for a few days camp. I had some basic panning gear and some "hand me down" basic knowledge, so we ventured down onto the fossicking grounds for a play in the dirt. Fun was had by all. Fast forward to RFS training...

    What a great forum

Nope DWT, but before I lost weight my mates reckoned I was a dead ringer for him, hence the moniker. The buggers pooled their resources and purchased the BUCK rego plates for my fiftieth birthday near ten year back and wet themselves laughing every year as I moan about paying $500 to keep them...

    Grabben Gullen Camping

This is a sapphire I harvested at Grabben Gullen about ten years ago. My wife's late uncle owned Australian Diamond Services and he polished the sapphire and set it with the diamond chips. My wife loves it as she saw it in the rough and now wears the finished product. Img.

    Outback Survival tips

I was going to post the same link that Loamer has already put up. I would encourage everyone going bush to print it off and keep in their car. It may just save your life. It is the best document of its kind. I have had it for quite sometime. ;)

    Snake Gaiters

A bit of worthwhile advice my Dad drummed into me as a kid in the bush. Always step onto a log then off it, never step straight over it because there could be a carney sunning itself on the other side. Twice now this advice has saved me from potential "shit ditch" situations, both times with...
