anyone ever panned in watsons creek?

I have, only a small section that I could find where it would be allowed. Was absolutely no water when i went so just dug a bucket of dirt from a few spots and took it home, got 3 specs. The place was a mess where I was, open holes, piles of tailings, someone had been breaking up the bedrock...

    panning at warrandyte this thurs/fri

says so on the dpi website under the list of rivers and creeks exempt from prospecting. doesn't stop people, just be smart about it if you're gonna go there I guess. And make sure you have your miners right on you at all times. I only started panning a couple months ago so still learning myself.

Been there a few times, find small specks in every pan. Nothing too impressive but it's not bad for this close to the city. Found this in an afternoon with just a shovel and a pan...

Anyway, I bought a new wilson bait pump yesterday which worked fine in the store but as soon as I used it in the water it started squaking and carrying on with ear pearcing squeals. Needless to say it completely ruined the serenity :p Having only...

Yeah been having the same problem with the mercury. I just been chucking it in a pan over a flame and letting it evaporate off. Can't see the harm aslong as ya dont go sticking your face directly over it :p
