    Gold bearing quartz

Hey Wally69, thank you for the tip, must go check out the tracks :) Galena, I get them to be able to fit in the pipe and just crush away. It takes awhile to get it ground to 'powder' for panning. The thing is I have to crush all of it to make sure I don't miss anything. But I keep stopping...

    Gold bearing quartz

Thanks Beagleboy and everyone. Got the husband to make this - can stand on either side to hold it down, works well :D So much crushing to do........ If I find fine gold is it more probable there will be alluvial gold? I presume so but I also presume I would need to find a 'deeper' rock/area...

    Gold bearing quartz

Yep, my map overlays but not identically and when you zoom in it moves around. I think I am going to have to go ahead and just buy it for the $60 to make it easier. So true with the four wheeler and samples :) my husband was worried about me when came to upright it for me whilst I was running...

    Gold bearing quartz

I will have to look at the mineral deposit site you mentioned, that will prob help me out more. I have got the rock types etc and fault lines although I am not a geologist so don't know what all of it means, wish I did! The geo map made it easier to find the fault lines, I have a few, but they...

    Gold bearing quartz

You're right trashmagnet, there is also one in the US that you add the liquid to the ground up material and if it goes purple it means there is gold and there is enough of it to be of economic value. I would have to find the site again. I am looking for tests that can test for silver...

    Gold bearing quartz

Oops, need to add link to post sorry https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4789 Also, do you have geological maps of the area that you can use in google earth? And also maps of found gold in the area? These are invaluable as you can find out the exact rock types, if mines...

    Gold bearing quartz

Hi Enzo, Here is a post I did today with rock samples. Hope it helps. It looks like there has been panning in the creek in the past although has not been gone through for some time. I have done quite a bit of research but still yet to find placer gold. I am still figuring out my detector :D...

    Hi all, newbie here :)

Hi Sam, Thank you. The joys of not working ATM means a lot of time on my hands! I have to go through the main homestead that had a hut built under it in the 1830 - 40s and burnt down in 1979 more. I have got a couple of rare earth magnets and others that I will attach to a rake, rake through...

Wish we had spare water to do panning. Our creek only has a small amount of water left for us :( only had less than 5mm this year, it is so dry. Easier access to the creek bed though, although wish I was good at dry panning, or panning in general! ;)

    Hi all, newbie here :)

Thank you Rick and Wal :) Started on house sites that were built in the 1800's and finding some interesting relics. One of them has the owner that was buried next to it in the late 1800's so I am hoping he doesn't have any gold teeth! :P Merry
