Mercury Use and Recovering Gold from Amalgam information and questions

They use to let you dip your fingers in the stuff in high-school science class back in the old days. Seriously 0000.1 of a gram of mercury vapor ain't going to hurt you. I'd still avoid breathing it in when burning it off though. :P

    motorised trommel

Yep exactly. You can give your wiper motor variable speed :) only downside like I said it will draw alot of power and nowhere near the torque of a geared motor. How you going to have it set up direct drive, belt & pulleys or chain and sprocket...??

    motorised trommel

Mate, you can put a variable speed switch on ANY dc motor... You could grab one off ebay or just goto jaycar. That way you would have fully adjustable speed instead of just fast and slow. Also wiper motors draw abit of power. I'd recommend taking a look at some geared 12v motors on ebay. I...

    Walbanker vs Banjo

That's a nice bit of gear elbowgreese I like that idea... Like you said best of both worlds :) And no marked but ur half right. The banjo is a type of 2 tier highbanker. These analogy's may help. All banjos are tiered highbankers but not all tiered highbankers are banjos. All thumbs are fingers...

    Walbanker vs Banjo

Phill, would love to hear how it goes when your finished. That removable catch tray idea is what attracted me to the "banjo" design. I'd imagine it would reduce your cons greatly. :) Also I found the spray bar design intresting.

    Walbanker vs Banjo

Ahhh..thanks for the advise everyone...:) The "banjo" I'm referring to is a homemade highbanker design I've seen plans for on another forum. I think the guy who made the plans calls it a banjo. Anyway so I've decided I'm going to build a walbanker as it is well an truly proven to be a good unit...
