I have finally finished all I need is some dirt to try it out, I don't think our local red desert sand is really the stuff to try it out on. I changed my mind on this job more than any other, I finally went for wheels on the cam. and I settled on calico for the riffle tray. Calico in Australia...

    Handle for scoop.

TIG welding bit of an art to make it look pretty, I have TIG welded a lot of aluminium and stainless over the years and can say I will never produce art work, as long as it hold or does not leak is all that matters, function over form anyday! however the more you do the better and faster you get.

The penny dropped last night, some of the noise is coming from the bellow arm when dropping it is hitting the cam, i suspect if i drop the motor/cam lower it might stop the hammering noise. I am quite chuffed how easy it is to remove the motor/cam for transporting or hand operated.

I would not call it costly (cost about $10 for a strip 300x1000. I am not sure what you mean by tight enough. this mesh I have used in irrigation water filters its pretty robust and consistently woven. you can get 125 micron. sorry I can't give links.

    Drywasher riffle cloth

I am very new to this stuff and the only mentor I have is my wife and she knows nothing! I have spent hours upon hours searching the net for information on building a drywasher (puffer style) like most topics, much is just regurgitated on the net. I am no good with stuff like CAD and for that...
