I better get out with my QED soon and do some more testing, from memory I was experiencing the same as you North East - I couldnt get my gain passed about 3 or 4 without it being way too noisy and chirpy. I figured it was just the highly mineralized ground here in Bendigo causing me the issues

Just wondering; does running the THS-B a few notches lower than null still pick up the bigger targets easily? Only asking because i watched this video and here he lowers it and it picks up the small nugget a lot better, but wondering if it would cancel out any of the bigger deeper targets...

I wouldn't bother with a VLF machine in Bendigo region, the hotrocks and ground will drive you goddamn wild. That was my experience when I first started, I learnt the hard way haha. You would want a PI machine and for your price point you can't really beat the QED. Have a look at one of those...

I'm going to keep an eye on the future updates of the QED, I'm keen to see what is added to it. I see it as a good value upgrade for myself one day down the track after only just starting out in prospecting with buying an old minelab sd2000.
