Hey guys I used to mine at Oberon now I live in QLD. What are some good areas of QLD to fossick for opal or gemstones...? Thought I could start a thread for noobs like me kinda

Basically what's so special about it and what does it look like. Photos if possible plz Why not just dig all the way to bedrock doesn't gold and corundum sink?

Hey all, I'm still kind of new to fossicking and lapidary to the point where I haven't even been to a lapidary club Had a look online but couldn't find where the ones are in my area I live in Windsor nsw if anyone knows where the closest to me is or any in the area really cheers

i live about 30 mins from diamond hill near kurrajong nsw. i have seen limited info suggesting that diamonds and other gemstones can be located in this area due to volcanic activity millions of years ago leaving basalt. i may even head out there today and post back info myself any info on this...

anyone been to oberon? if so what would you reccomend looking for? also keen to see any finds from the area.
