Thanks wally. Manage to find someone to cut them at such a small size. The cabbed chrysoberyl I'll be getting put into a necklace for the wife and one of the royal blue sapphires in a ring. The sparkle of the sapphires is amazing when in the right light

Hey guys recently got some gems cut. All sapphires except yellow which is chrysoberyl. Between 0.2ct to 0.5ct cut. Very happy with the results. Will try to get better pics when I get back from fires.

Nice stones there Squint. I've been tumbling my unfacetable stones and putting them in glass bottles. Will take a pic and post them when i get a chance

Yeah im in my mid 30's so the cold isn't to bad at times :lol: My dad is in his 60's and still has a decent crack in the cold water. The lengths people go to for stones :lol:

Still working on it. Now its getting colder it'll be a good time to start to learn. Gotta catch up with the old man and see if he's caught up with his friend that was going to help him out

Yep was definitely in the honey spot. Was hoping to beat my 29ct sapphire record but not this time. Now to let the wifey choose her favorites

Wow what a cracker of a sapphire. If i was you i would definitely get it faceted here in Australia. Get a quality cut stone even at $50 a ct would be worth it in my opinion. Plenty of awesome cutters on here or ask around maybe at your local lapidary club. Let us know how you go and good luck :D

And 544.5cts of sapphire i got. Biggest is 8.2ct.

Another trip down weld river before winter hits. Was bloody cold but got some nice stones. Some zircons. Biggest was 4.1ct. All up 130.5cts worth. Close up of 4.1ct zircon Some topaz. Biggest is 15.2ct and all up there is 235.5cts

Looks like 1st pic has a bit of amethyst in it. To me the darker section just looks like smokey running through clear quartz. Interesting sample. I would tumble it

I got heaps of those zircons from the north east tas. I was told i wouldn't get anything for them by an older man i met down there since they weren't cutters but I've been tumbling them and putting in small glass bottles. They look awesome. Hope you can find a price for them :D

Damn thats an awesome find. Was thinking of investing in a pair of sunglasses with camera for this type of thing. I would of used a bit more French though :D
