Do you suggest that he do so in the crevices underwater? Or the ones exposed which were previously underwater during heavy rain? (sorry - beginners question!).

    Tips for gold panning

Thanks for the tips Blue Currant. I bought a pan at Coffs Disposals yesterday. I have an Aldi detector - don't know if I will ever get into nugget country to try it out on gold though - but good for finding bottle tops on the beach!

    Micro-highbanker

Very good, thanks for that explanation Troutman. I assume that gravel/sand material is first loaded into the sluice or highbanker using a bucket or shovel, then flushed with water (via the method you describe) to allow the riffles in the device to separate out any gold. Is that more or less...

    re-design of highbanker,

That's good innovation Goldfreak. How did you bend the sheet to keep it's shape? Did you use heat?

    Aldi Adventuridge Metal Detector

Not yet Jaros. However, it is a very old post and he left few contact details. Also, I have only just passed the 10 post required to send private messages. (Well, at least I think that was required). However, I should be able to work out how it is wired pretty quick. The two 9 volt batteries...

    Tips for gold panning

Hi BlueCurrant (and others). One of the nearest places to me that has reports of gold found in former times is Coramba and Nana Glen. Do you know in what places it is permissible to fossick (with a permit) around that area? If so and you can advise, it might be my very first fossicking attempt...

    Tips for gold panning

Hi Mike, I have not tried to find some and have not heard any reports of historical findings in the Bellinger River. That does not mean there is not any there, needless to say. Your question prompts me to try some panning on the river banks. Maybe the Never Never creek - could be worth a try...

    Aldi Adventuridge Metal Detector

I have one of these and plan to use it soon to do some serious fossicking. So far, I have found a $1 coin on a local beach after just a few minutes. I plan to modify the circuit to take a Lithium Ion battery to replace the disposable 9v dry cell batteries, as a contributor on another thread...

Thanks for the post with the pictures AM. Very helpful for a total beginner - I am still doing reading and research only! I have yet to make my first field trip. But please, what is the snuffer bottle?

    Tips for gold panning

Hi Dan, Do you have any pictures of your self built sluice? Or any details, design sources that you would share with a total beginner?

    Nundle crevies

Good find Mick! And thanks for posting your finds. I live within 3 or 4 hours drive from Nundle and I plan to go up there and do my very first fossicking. I am a total beginner. In what places in the Nundle area is it permissible for the amatuer to fossick and pan for gold? My apologies for the...
