Yes I have tried that. I am getting a good feel for the detector. I might learn coin popping and see how that goes. The ear I am not really getting disheartened. I wasn't expecting to make a fortune and I was really just wandering the beach aimlessly to see what was down there.

Had another long session yesterday. Brighton beach. Didn't get much. 5c and a shell casing which was a little surprising. I think the "interference" I was experiencing was just change jangling in my pocket. I stripped myself of as much metal as possible and the detector was dead quiet.

Just a word of warning, it is a very lightweight bag. Think of it more as a cover and not a bag. It just fits. But the pole pokes at the edges.

If you want to discriminate bottle caps out I found a trick you can use. If you detect something in the bottlecap range, switch to 5khz single frequency. A stubby cap ID will jump up by a large amount (I was getting 31-32). A coin/gold will stay pretty well the same. Tested it inside, works a...

Went out for a couple of hours Friday. Got a $2 coin and 7 bottletops. Was digging everything just to get an idea of what was what. The bottle caps are fairly easily recognisable from the coin.
