Thanks guys. I should of told you I have a Minelab GM1000. My thinking is that I use the GPX and my daughters can use the Monster. That way I can target deeper gold and my daughters can target the fine gold with the Monster.

Thanks all , To be honest I was only wanting to spend less than $2.5k hence why I was look at second hand units. I just couldn't figure out why some second hand units are going for $3.5k? I don't think an extra coil is worth it the risk and couldn't figure out why someone would buy it for that...

Hi Haydos, I am a novice as well , I have been out with My GM maybe half a dozen times. What you need to remember is that they auto ground balance (when in Auto) So if you swing over the same target long enough it will assume its just part of the ground. What i recommend is to take it off auto...
