Awesome work mate there would have to be some more really interesting finds in that place.
That copper or brass contraption under the cap in, know what it is? I've found the exact thing on a permission a few weeks ago. Only thing I can think of is maybe an old magneto off a tractor of car...
Only a very green prospector of 3~ Months. But I believe this is a very important survey to be distributed throughout fellow prospectors/fossickers. Also I feel a free introductory day to new prospectors from seasond volunteers would be a great way to encorouge appropriate behaviour during our...
Hey all!
I left my my detector belt on the river of slaty creek just down the end of Cheney st. if anyone has seen it, it's under a gumtree right next to the river. Not expecting it to be found but no harm in trying hey!
Cheers anyway guys and gals!
James.
I'm in the same boat as you mate, I didn't want to upset the tree and destroy any roots so went in slowly and carefully. Managed to work my way around them quite successfully, even though it put a lot more time and effort on the dig but that's just me, I'm a bit of a weird sorta bloke haha...
76!! You've been around the traps now BigWave! Would of found you're self in many a different situations. Once I've gone out a few now times I'd love to pick you're brain about soil conditions and the different landscapes of goldfields if you wouldn't mind?
The fruits of my lobour ladies and gents. Price of iron.

I cant remember to be honest I'll have a look first thing in the morning Reeks.
Do you think so? I suppose there's no definitive way to tell but to have a dig... I'll have a look and see if I can find some adjustments in the settings that may help my cause.
Cheers.
Will do.. have been stopping to ground balance all day, makes a big difference.
And I just researched the conductivity of tree roots too. It seemed to me that the target was coming from in between the roots but I'll have a much more detailed inspection tomorrow.
Cheers.
Ok so sounds like I'm going back there in the morning.
Would anyone know any common spots for the gold to be trapped? I waved a detector wand down there (I dig under the roots but clean all the clay off) but it showed no presence of anything? So made me a little confused.
I fell like it might...
Hey all! How are we going?
I went out for the first time today at creswick using my fathers gpx5000 with an 18" nugget finder coil.
I hit a signal at the base of a tree and soon discovered that whatever it was, was under or inbetween two thick tree roots. I dug for an hour but got rained out...
