    Royal folding sluice?

I am looking to buy a good sluice that I can carry about without attracting too much attention -so my 36 inch Angus Mckirk doesn't qualify. The Royal 50 inch sluice seems to fold down to a small package. Has anyone tried this sluice?

    My sluice Samantha.

I tried using a corrugated pipe sluice but found that I could not keep the sides level so material went out the sides and it was not rigid enough to maintain an incline downwards (ie even a slight bit of upwards inclination anywhere down its length and it wouldnt work). How do you guys get...

Who do you go to to verify you've actually got gold in your hands?

Dont be put off-I had a similar experience when I started-I thought I had hit it rich but it was only mica. Usually easy to spot because it flicks around in a pan of water all over the place unlike gold which tends to stay in one place. But I later recovered the real thing in exactly the same...

    Geiger counters?

Has anyone had any experience seaching for radioactive minerals using a geiger counter or similar? I was hoping someone might be able to recommend a cheap but effective one.

    GSA Baby Sluice

Really interesting comments about riffle design and depth. After using a garret super sluice pan very successfully and noting its deep riffles I was wondering whether a sluice box using that sort of riffle would work better than the usual type?

    GMT or Goldbug pro?

I am still confused about the Gold bug range. The Gold Bug pro has a 19 kHz frequency and is advertised by Fisher as "The best, most versatile prospecting machine on the market! Incredible sensitivity to the tiniest gold nuggets" But the Gold Bug 2 operates at very different frequency 71kHz and...

Tools for breaking off chunks of a quartz reef

Sorry to ask a very basic question but I found a quartz reef while walking a long way from a road. It appeared to be mineralised and I wanted to break some large pieces off but had no equipment with me. When I go back can anyone suggest the best equipment for the job-I am trying to avoid...

    Metal pans information and questions

I have used metal pans and other plastic pans but am now totally converted to the Garrett Super Sluice-hard to beat. Easy to use and takes large unclassified loads. Cant help wondering whether this type of deep riffle could be used in a conventional sluice.

Angus Mackirk Boss 11 Abyss riffles

Has anyone tried the new Angus Mckirk Boss 11 with Abyss riffles. I have an Au Trap (Boss1) and was wondering whether the new one is significantly better?

Got me a AM Boss AU Trap yesterday

Most people seem to classify when using McKirk sluices but I just shovel rocks etc straight into my Boss. Apart from removing quite big rocks which tend to stay in the sluice the rest just goes out if the flow is strong. Does anybody else do this and have they checked to see if any gold is being...
