Latest finds over the last couple of outings......

Had a good win this morning.....1919 One Penny (very corroded this time) and 1936 Threepence, oh and a very old gold ring. The ring looked like old junk very dirty, looked like aluminium or similar. Put it in the pocket like all things and cleaned it up once home. What a nice surprise, to see...

I agree....it was just a quick look at a place with my 4 year old in tow. He is my good luck, found first gold with him and now this coin my oldest to date. I get more of a thrill out of this than I did riding dirt bikes! My other button from around 1850 still amazes me!

    Detecting in the rain.

Hey mate, sorry for delay...just saw this comment now!! Pretty much stock F1A4.....I have a coil adapter from the *bay (looking at changing that as it appears to have an earthing issue). I have modded the audio plug to accept any set of headphones rather than the milspec type. I made a ground...

    Detecting in the rain.

About 2 weeks ago I went out for the first time this year in the cooler weather. Rained, rained and rained a bit more! Good start to the year though...the F1A4 struck using the joey coil...... 0.25g

What mods have you done to the F1A4? That's an awesome find! The best I have got with mine is 0.23g. Standard. Chris

    20 cent coin 1966 - soo close!

It was in the spare change jar that's its story!! The coin was pretty dirty and had some gunk on it. When he asked if it was a wavy, I had to move muck out of the way to check!! So we soaked it in olive oil then just cleaned it with hot water and detergent to remove the muck. Took a while but...

    20 cent coin 1966 - soo close!

Along with the Adelaide pound! A little of gold prospecting but these are the paths this hobby takes us down......gold hunting some days, coins etc on others! It's funny, its the gold I want to find the most. The wavy 20c is worth way more than my gold I have found (probably as hard to find)...

    20 cent coin 1966 - soo close!

When compared to the other 1966 coins we have it looks very different, I have shown it to three different people and asked to spot the difference. All spotted the wavy 2. The best part was it was my son who pulled it out of the jar, and said "is this one dad????" To which I replied, "yes mate...

    20 cent coin 1966 - soo close!

I hate to add this but I will.... after hitting the goldfields and coming home with muddy boots the other week. I heard about this wavy coin business..... So we emptied the change jar, there were a lot of 20 cent coins...my son kept pulling out the 1966 ones and look what we found :) Not the...
