    Large metal (iron) blocks

Thanks everyone. I think you might be right grubstake. There was an old battery not far from where we found these. Good work :)

    Large metal (iron) blocks

Hi Everyone We've come across 5 of these octagonal metal blocks. They range in size from 8 - 12" in diameter and they're as heavy as hell. We think they were used in the old gold mining processes, but don't know what for. Any ideas? Cheers

    Hallmarks on a spoon

Thanks everyone. That explains why I can't identify a couple of the marks. I've been to the websites you have all suggested. It's so much fun finding all these things, & then to try to identify them -keeps us busy :)

    Hallmarks on a spoon

Ok, another mystery. We unearthed a spoon recently and I'm having difficulty deciphering the hallmarks. At first we thought the spoon was silver, however we have scratched it and the metal looks gold in colour. From the hallmarks, I don't think it's silver. Can anyone help us out?

    Mystery Coins

Thanks Detectist. We'll definitely be going to that spot one day. We found quite a few other items in that area.

A great little find - but what is it?

Another recent find. Need your help to identify what it is please. It's 12cm long.

    Mystery Coins

This is the second coin we found on the same day. This one's even tougher to identify. One side has almost no detail. This side shows (I think) 1852. I can just make out some detail belonging to Britannia facing to the right. It measures 29mm dia. My guess is a halfpenny again.

    Mystery Coins

Fantastic. It's really hard finding images of these when they're so badly worn.

    Mystery Coins

This is 1 of 2 coins we recently found. It's really hard to see the detail, but I think it's 1806 halfpenny. Details I have are: 28mm dia; head is facing to the right; Brittania is facing to the left. Would love some feedback or if anyone knows what it is, please let me know.
