    Modded GP3500 info?

When going out on beach finds the GP3500 seems to take a very long time to get into a good mood. . It seems to be the same pattern every time, I can't find anything but light weight caps/foil/can pieces in the first hour. I went out today and as per the norm, I found around 8 bottle caps at...

    Taxation Question

Good links. I won't be paying any tax on my metal detecting finds. I have a few Hobby websites that I tinker on, unfortunately an ABN is required to register any .com.au site. According to the ATO site if you have "registered a business name or got an ABN" its a characteristic of starting a...

    Taxation Question

Last time I went to the tax man he said all income even from a hobby is now taxable, with no starting threshold. Even if i only made $100 bucks from a hobby I'd have to pay the tax. So is it just the hobby of metal detecting that has no tax... I'd still like to claim for a 5k GPX :o

    Ultrasonic Cleaners for Coins

Hi All, Can the ultrasonic jewellery cleaner units be used to clean up beach coins? I've seen a few cheap 40000hz units on flea bay and wondered if they have enough power to loosen up the muck. Ive been finding a dozen or so coins each time I go to the beach and they're starting to add up :)...

    Minelab GP3500 tips, settings, questions

Cool, more reading to be done then. So from what I understand the AI is basically a figure 8 wound coil. Will have a significant loss of depth on large items but not so much on a very small shallow target. Great for mineralized soil. Will read up on the AI and look for some vid's. :D

    Minelab GP3500 tips, settings, questions

Hi All, I have a moded GP3500 which I'm primarily using for beach hunting, it was purchased with only one stock 11"DD Minelab coil. The GP has Woody's additional timings / extra depth settings. I believe the 11" is working a treat, finding targets that are too deep to dig and handling EMI...

    Modded GP3500 info?

:D Thanks Mbasko. I'll have to try TRACKING MODE next time out, so far I've stuck with the FIXED TRACKING and when I find a target I'm re-ground balancing near it. Seems to be working. After an hour or so I've been turning off the detector and re-tuning then ground balancing. Seems to help keep...

    Modded GP3500 info?

Went out again today to a local beach and learn't a lot. The threshold in Deep was probably too quiet, I couldn't tune in any background noise (If that makes any sense). In Normal boost I could hear the threshold and dips of deep tiny targets. But Deeps got me sold, found a tone of coins which...

    Oberon NSW information and questions

Hey Garyo, Its a few thousand $$ finer per axle. Not good if your driving a semi or towing a 4wd caravan. Also no insurance coverage if the roads been closed and you have a woops on the ice.
