NSW tourist in the GT - what not to miss?

I know it's been a few years since this post but I just wanted to say the recommendation for the vanilla slices at Dunolly Bakery was spot on. We sampled quite a few. Haven't found any better in the last few years and whenever our trip to Ballarat is talked about, without a doubt the yumminess...

    What's your favourite drink?

Quite a lot of great liquids amongst these posts but did you have to bring up Passion Pop Tathradj & Silver? Brings a sick feeling straight to my throat. Eeww! That shake sounds pretty lethal isolation. I'll have to whip it up one day. And I love your list Dr Duck. Some very nice drops there...

What Songs, Musicians or Bands Do You Like

Here's a country song to throw into the mix. It's had over 13 million views on youtube. Very catchy tune that is hard to get out of your head once you listen to it, especially if you like a bit of whistling in a song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8nY06Pt8Qw Sun Daze sung by Florida Georgia...

Stone engraving / scultupure cutting and dremell bits

Good pics of your progressive carving AR. I've recently acquired some jasper and have thought about doing a bit of carving with them. I carved a piece of boulder opal way back in the old days, similar to the shape of the opera house. I'll post a pic if I ever find where I put that piece. Hope...

    Where has Gold Diver.

Probably out detecting is my guess or working too hard in his vineyard. Don't think he'd give up detecting.

Hoard of 5,000 Anglo Saxon coins unearthed

That's awesome Ramjet! Thanks for posting this. I don't have TV and hardly listen to any news broadcasts on the radio so would have missed this great find. How lucky is he! :o

    Investing

I had a look online for acres in and around the GT. Found 5 acres for $44,000. I'd be doing that. Five acres is a large enough area to detect every square inch in and then build your own little cabin. Digging is involved and what dirt you dig out can be processed for the gold stuff. You'll be...

    What's your favourite drink?

I splashed out on some alcohol today and think this latest discovery will be my favourite for a long time to come. It's Somersby's Blackberry Cider. Just the right amount of sweetness for me and not sickly at all like some of the other stuff you can buy. Too mor-ish. I'm happy I got a...

Thanks for posting these Jembaicumbene. Interesting reading about how it was in the olden days. :)

Wally69's Nugget Hunting Practice. The By-Catch.

I'm jealous Wally. I tried detecting my Grandma's back yard that has been in the family for over 70yrs and I still came up empty. I only wanted one old coin. Just one! I'll have to get some detecting lessons some time soon-ish I think.

    What is your Favourite Movie.

Reviving this thread as I was going to start same. But there's no way I can narrow it down to just one top movie. The Time Travellers Wife - my fav. The Young Victoria - my fav too. Gravity Date Night - not what it sounds like. Bit of action and comedy. Gone In 60 Seconds - just cause I...

Exercising panning and digging forearm pain away tip

Great tip AR. We should all do stretching exercises before and after we pan or prospect. It does help reduce the pain and increase the chances of gain :D

    getting stones cut

Yes, I am getting back into it. I've just sent off my local lapidary club membership not an hour ago. Can't wait to cut some potch I have to dust off the skills :) I love it!

    getting stones cut

Yes it will. I'd say just by the looks of his website he will be pricey. You could always send off a few enquiries to some on the NSW list to compare. They look to be in the more regional areas and may not be so dear. Let us know how you go.
