So I'm under the impression the best thing to do is to wave items over the detector eg. 1$ 2$ coins etc. take note of what their readings are and pay attention to those and ignore the rest?

I just bought my very first metal detector a Fisher F22 and went out for a scout around at a local beach. I managed to find some loose change but I also found bottle caps, cans, ring pulls etc. What I'm wondering is whether or not anyone has managed to dial down their settings to the point...
