    Thanks for the input - since first asking the question I have tried Motion-X and at a cost of $2.99 it seems to be excellent value. Any maps required to be downloaded are free as well.

    Is anyone able to tell a beginner which of the three following locations is best to start detecting: Talgai State Forest Thanes Creek Durikai From reading recent posts it seems that Durikai would provide the best results would I be right in assuming that.

    Returning from first trial of new detector on beach. Still early days with a lot to learn 2 and a bit hours of detecting returned 2 bottle caps. I guess that can be expected beach was extremely washed out following bad weather almost 1 m of sand washed out in places
