Why is dredging illegal? I went to Oallen Ford last weekend and was disgusted to see these three so-called prospectors highbanking, they had dug a trench over 8mtrs long, upto 3mtrs wide & 500mm deep. Then to see them pack up & drive out. They didn't care about trying to fill in their quarry...

Have look at Desceliers 1550 map of Australia. It does show Timor & Northern Australia. However a closer look reveals houses, creatures that look like elephants & camels. I thought camels were introduced around 1840, as for the elephants your guess is as good as mine.
